About
My career started in Graphic Design, I enjoyed the storytelling aspects of branding with the creation of a new visual world. As I progressed to Art Directing photoshoots, I became captivated by designing in space and enjoyed the physicality and comradery of being on set. I switched over to working as a Set/Production Designer in Independent Film, Fashion, Music Videos, and Commercials. It's a dream job for me and one that I love.
I'm always seeking new collaborations and enjoy working with others who share a passion for what they do. I'm interested in creatively expansive projects, with stories driven by cinematic social inquiry. I hope my contributions amplify the emotional subtext, contributing to a deeper saturation of the work with layered meaning. My films have been shown in film festivals across the United States including The New York Film Festival. My commercial work has won awards including Cannes Lions and Clios. I'm based in Brooklyn, New York, and willing to travel. In my spare time, you can find me in nature or scrolling through the Craigslist free section.
Process
Research becomes my compass as I dive into cultural references, historical periods, films, art, color, and other inspiration to unfold the world of the story. While seeping into the visual language, I am also analyzing the characters to find deeper meaning and metaphors to contribute to the story. Following is a conceptualization phase where I create mood boards, sketch, and/or develop detailed renderings depending on the needs of the project and timeline constraints. Collaboration is at the heart of a successful prep period to draw out the themes, continue to define the tone of the story, and bring the characters to life. Together, we transform conceptual designs into physical realities such as prop fabrication, custom set builds, or on-location transformations.
