Work In Progress
Novelist Evan is excited to share the news that he’s been accepted to a prestigious summer writers’ residency with his husband and their friends over an intimate dinner party. But the big reveal doesn’t go as planned in this finely calibrated domestic-drama-in-miniature.
For the non-union indie short film Good News, the Production/Costume Designer worked closely with the Director and Cinematographer to enhance a bland rented location to fit the film's themes and tone. Using mood boards and SketchUp renderings the team collaborated to determine how they would modify the space to create the desired atmosphere and achieve interesting and emotionally resonant blocking. The elements of the set include important aspects of the backstory of the characters and reflect their experiences within the space. Additionally, attention to detail and thorough planning were needed to address the logistical challenges of a complex dinner scene. Overall, the passion, creativity, and hard work of the crew overcame constraints to deliver a compelling story. The film was shot on location in Brooklyn New York and proudly premiered at New York Film Festival.
