In this horror thriller, Gail (Radha Mitchell) is forced to come to terms with Josh, her new stepson, at a remote country home. After stealing an evil dreamcatcher from a mysterious neighbor, Josh has sinister dreams of his dead mother who commands Josh to murder Gail. When Josh’s dad (Henry Thomas) returns, he and Gail suspect that their son has been possessed by an ancient, bloodthirsty spirit.
The Art Department played a crucial role in bringing the visual world of this non-union indie feature film to life. Set in upstate New York, the sets, props, and costumes shaped an overall aesthetic that seamlessly intertwined horror and family drama. Transforming bare locations into the film's specific environments was challenging within an ultra-low budget Tier 1 feature, but the Art Department balanced the artistic vision with the practical considerations creating a haunting and captivating world. The Production Designer on this project participated in initial conceptualization during the prep phase, and the Set Decorator took over during the production phase creating notable sets such as the barn, attic, and Grandma's bedroom entirely. Their collaborative efforts were integral to creating an authentic and emotive atmosphere.
